Cultivating Care provides professional preceptors to train your new grad nurses at the bedside in order to meet the demands of their designated unit. They will graduate from orientation with the skills needed to practice safely and competently, improving safety outcomes for patients and reducing liability issues for your facility. Orienting with Cultivating Care reduces burnout of new nurses so that you can build your core staff and reduce the need to fill in with costly travel nurses.
Our preceptors are hand-picked for their adaptability, work ethic, professionalism, and passion for nursing and teaching. They receive one-on-one training in how to implement Cultivating Care's three-phase orientation model to get your new grads practicing safely, competently, and efficiently.
Simply contact us and provide us with the details of your facility's precepting needs. We will schedule a day to work with your nurse managers to customize our orientation plan to fit your facility and unit's specific needs.
Once you have selected a new grad nurse to participate in our program, a program supervisor will reach out to you for contact information on that new grad and the manager of the unit they will be working on. The program supervisor will set up a meeting with the manager to gather information such as what patient population that unit serves, what the nursing responsibilities and charting requirements look like on that floor, etc. The program supervisor will also meet with the new grad to assess their specific learning needs and personality so that they can be matched with a compatible preceptor. All of this information will be used to customize our program to meet the needs of your facility and your new grad nurse. Then an orientation schedule can be set.
A Cultivating Care preceptor's role is to orient your new grad at the bedside. If your facility has additional classes and certifications required of your new grad, your education department will still provide those courses. A Cultivating Care preceptor can, however, reinforce and help put into practice any new skills or concepts taught by your facility's education department.
Yes! Many nurses who have missed out on a great orientation experience have difficulty managing the workload on their unit and may need some additional training to get them up to speed and working as efficiently as possible. Cultivating Care offers shorter contracts for nurses needing additional guidance and mentorship in bedside nursing.
Yes. Cultivating Care employs preceptors with a diverse range of experience, and we would be glad to supply a preceptor for a nurse transferring into an entirely different type of unit than where they have previously practiced.
